Science Enrichment Preparation Program Admission Process

Applicants to the S.E.P. Program must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Eligibility Requirements:

• Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Have in interest in attending Medical School or Dental School.
  • Be enrolled in a College/University, Community College or Early College Program.
  • Be classified as a rising sophomore or rising junior (current first year or second year) student at the time of application.
  • Have completed a minimum of three college-level credit hours each in math, biology and chemistry by Summer 2025.
  • Hold a science/overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be a US citizen or Permanent US Resident (North Carolina residents receive preference).

• Other Factors for consideration include: 
  • Lives, or has lived in, a rural/medically underserved community.
  • Comes from an economically or educationally disadvantaged background (First Generation College Student); and/or
  • Has demonstrated an interest in issues affecting underserved populations.
  • Submits a compelling personal statement and a strong letter of recommendation.

Application:

A completed S.E.P. application includes:

• Online Application with Essays (see below for more information about the application.)
• Two faculty appraisal forms completed by science faculty (professors, instructors, or TAs) – Click Here to Request Faculty Appraisal Forms (2 Needed)
• One letter of recommendation from any person who may attest to your character, commitment to becoming a health professional, and why you should be selected – Click Here to Request Letter of Recommendation  (1 Needed)
• Supplemental Materials – Click Here to Upload Supplemental Materials
  • A recent photo
  • Financial Information Verification (ie. FAFSA-Student Aid Report, Parent/Guardian 1040 Tax Forms)
  • Official Transcript(s)

Deadlines:

Early Application Deadline: January 5th, 2025!

Regular Decision Application Deadline:  March 9th, 2025, at midnight!
