Here’s a glimpse of highlights from our Spring 2024 Health Careers Day On “The Hill” (HCDOTH). Participants engaged in interactive presentations from various health professional schools at UNC – Chapel Hill and Duke Physician Assistant Program. Participants also learned techniques to identify and intervene in life-threating injuries through a Stop The Bleed Workshop facilitated by MedUltra Learning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For North Carolina Middle School and High School students interested in the health sciences, Health Careers Day On “The Hill” is their opportunity to discover how to break into the healthcare field.

The program is held on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill. Presentations by representatives from various health professional schools expose students to health careers and UNC admissions officers provide valuable college preparation information. Middle School students should attend the Fall 2024 session and High School students in Spring 2025.

When? – Fall Dates will be released soon!

Where? – UNC Chapel Hill

Who? –  Middle and High School Students from across the state of NC.

  1. What should I wear for Health Career Day on “The Hill”?

    • Business casual attire is encouraged. This opportunity will allow scholars to network and interact with healthcare professionals, and we would like participants to put their best foot forward.
  2. What does my 20-dollar registration fee include?

    • The 20-dollar registration fee covers workshop materials and lunch. Parking is not included.
  3. Can I ride with a group of friends to the Health Careers Day on “The Hill” without a supervising adult?

    • Participants are only allowed to transport themselves and any younger siblings to the Program named above. The following rules apply to minors who will be participating:
      1. Minors must turn in their car keys to the Staff of the Program upon arrival.
      2. Minors are not allowed to provide rides to other minors (other than younger siblings).
      3. Minors may not leave the Program before the conclusion of the event unless notification has been provided verbally or in writing to the Staff of the Program.
      4. All minors driving to and from the Program will be required to sign in and out with the Staff of the Program after arriving and before leaving.
      5. Minors are responsible for any parking charges that may be incurred at the site of the Program.
  4. If I am attending the event with a group of friends and a Parent/Guardian drops us off at the event, should we register as a group or individually?

    • Each minor must register individually if they are not accompanied by a supervising adult.
  5. Where will I park upon arrival for the event?
    1. Parking is contingent upon the mode of transportation the registrant is using. Once registered, participants will receive a registration email packet with parking directions.
