NC-HCAP has nearly 40 years of experience in providing career and educational resources for North Carolina pre-college and college students, teachers, parents and community leaders. With a highly talented and dedicated staff, NC-HCAP is committed to guiding and supporting our students in making informed decisions about their educational and career paths.
Dr. Rosalyn Beecham-Green has been appointed the director of NC-HCAP. In this role, she provides leadership on strategic planning, policy development, fundraising, financial management, administrative and programmatic planning.
She plans to build on existing programs by developing ways to sustain relationships with program participants throughout the academic year. In time, she hopes to create a continuous pipeline of programs for underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in North Carolina from kindergarten through college interested in health professions careers.
Previously, Beecham-Green was associate dean of student affairs at Ross University School of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies. Additionally, she has held leadership oppositions at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, The University of Iowa and Howard University College of Medicine.
She earned her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from The University of Iowa.
Paula joined the NC-HCAP team in February of 2007. As the associate director/college outreach coordinator, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office as well as planning, developing and implementing college outreach initiatives. She serves as the advisor for the NC-HCAP Health Careers Club.
Prior to assuming her current role, Paula was employed with the Morehead-Cain Foundation, an undergraduate scholarship program at UNC, and served as an AmeriCorp VISTA volunteer for the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Paula received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications studies from Wingate University and earned a Master of Arts degree in counselor education from North Carolina Central University. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the North Carolina Counseling Association, and the National Association of Medical Minority Educators, Inc.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Renee Harris received her Bachelor of Arts in English from North Carolina State University in 1988.
After a year of post-baccalaureate work at NC State, Renee joined the March of Dimes as a Community Director. Two years later, she joined the marketing department of Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and in 1995, she began a retail business in Sanford.
Renee joined the North Carolina Health Careers Access Program in September of 2000, where she is responsible for the marketing of NC-HCAP and its programs and activities both on the UNC campus and around the state.
Kevin is currently the administrative assistant for NC-HCAP. As such, he provides administrative and programmatic support and serves as the initial point of contact for students, colleagues and guests in the NC-HCAP office. During his time with NC-HCAP, Kevin also served as an administrative intern and research associate.
Prior to joining the NC-HCAP staff, Kevin earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009 as a public service scholar. As an undergraduate, his roles included resident advisor in the Department of Housing and Residential Education, research assistant at UNC Kidney Center, and founder of Minority Men in Medicine.
In 2008, Kevin was vice president of the NC-HCAP Health Careers Club and received the Patrena N. Benton Leadership Award for his work and leadership with that group.
Vivian joined NC-HCAP in January 2011 as the accounting technician and program coordinator. As such, she will assist with managing the NC-HCAP budget and accounts, identifying and procuring external grants, and coordinating student personnel. She will also help coordinate our pre-college and college activities, programs and events.
Vivian received her BA from NC State University and her MA from UNC and then began a career in secondary and higher education. She has more than ten years experience in administrative work at UNC, and is a former English teacher in both post-secondary colleges and in the North Carolina public school system.
