
Dr. Rosalyn Beecham-Green, director of the N.C. Health Careers Access Program (NC-HCAP), has announced that Vivian Matthews has joined the organization as the accounting technician/program coordinator. In this position, Matthews will assist with managing the NC-HCAP budget and accounts, identifying and procuring external grants and coordinating student personnel. She also will assist in organizing pre-college and college activities, programs and events.

Rosalyn Beecham-Green has been appointed director of the North Carolina Health Careers Access Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The North Carolina Health Careers Access Program (NC-HCAP) presented its 2010 Cecil G. Sheps Leadership Award to Dr. Carolyn M. Mayo, recognizing her outstanding contributions to NC-HCAP and her commitment to students’ success both in the classroom and in the community. The award presentation took place July 9 at NC-HCAP’s Science Enrichment Preparation (SEP) Program graduation celebration.

Sixty scholars from universities across the southeast recently completed the 2010 Science Enrichment Preparation (SEP) Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The North Carolina Health Careers Access Program (NC-HCAP) conducts this eight-week, honors-level academic enrichment program annually for underrepresented minority and educationally/economically disadvantaged students planning to pursue health careers.
