One of the major goals of NC-HCAP is to grow the health care work force by increasing students’ interest in health careers and providing them with opportunities to improve their competitiveness for admission into health professional schools.

Each year, we host a variety of programs and activities including summer programs, a health careers club, panel presentations and networking opportunities and counseling and advising sessions.

Clinical Health Summer Program (CHSP)
CHSP is a seven-week academic enrichment program that provides students at Elizabeth City State University, NC Central University and UNC at Pembroke with clinical experience in health care agencies.

Health Careers Club
The health careers club is an officially recognized UNC student organization designed to bring together, educate and support students pursuing health careers. Membership is open to all undergraduate students at UNC.

North Carolina Access, Retention and Completion (NC-ARC) Initiative in the Allied Health Sciences
NC-ARC prepares disadvantaged undergraduate students at five UNC System institutions for successful matriculation into professional allied health degree programs through a series of teleconference courses and a network of mentors.

Science Enrichment Preparation (S.E.P.) Program
SEP is an eight-week, honors-level academic enrichment program for disadvantaged undergraduate students seeking admission into graduate/health professional programs.
