Membership Benefits

Counseling and Advisement
Members are offered a variety of year-round counseling and advisement services that help guide them through their career planning process. 

Health Professional Shadowing
Members have the opportunity to interact with health care professionals in a real-work environment. 

Seminars/Panels
These activities allow members to learn about graduate/health professional admissions criteria, internships and summer enrichment programs and to establish connections with health science school partners. 

Community Service
Members participate in community service projects to improve the life of the surrounding campus communities.  Past projects include: Health on the Block (the organization’s signature project), Habitat for Health, Ronald McDonald House, Relay for Life, and UNC Hospital’s Pediatric Playroom. 

Networking
Members have the opportunity to meet and network with one another, graduate/health professional students, and health care professionals and administrators.

 

Membership Criteria and Requirements

Membership Criteria

  1. Must be a full-time pre-professional health science student at UNC Chapel-Hill
  2. Demonstrate an interest in a health career
  3. Possess and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
Membership Requirements
  1. Attend general body meetings (fall and spring semesters)
  2. Volunteer in the NC-HCAP office (5 hours per semester)
  3. Participate in community service projects
  4. Attend and/or volunteer at NC-HCAP-sponsored functions
  5. Pay membership dues ($10.00 per year)

 

How do I become a member?

There are two steps you must take to become a member of the NC-HCAP Health Careers Club

  1. Complete and submit the Health Careers Club Questionnaire

After you submit the Health Careers Club online interest form, please complete the required questionnaire.  You may hand-deliver the questionnaire to the NC-HCAP office at the Student and Academic Services Building South, Suite 3307 or email it to Tyela Smith, Membership Chair, at tyelas@email.unc.edu.
