Clinical Health Summer Program

If you are interested in a career in medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, public health, veterinary medicine, nursing, health administration or allied health, we encourage you to apply to the CHSP Program today.

Application Guidelines and Selection Criteria

The CHSP Program accepts disadvantaged students who are college freshmen or sophomores at the application deadline (juniors and seniors may be admitted occasionally).

To apply, you can download the application for your school online. Or, if you would like a copy of the application to be mailed to you, complete the online request below or contact one of the NC-HCAP Health Careers Centers. Final applications are due on February 15th, along with the following:

  • one copy of your official college transcript
  • a recent photograph
  • a one-age autobiographical essay
  • one letter of recommendation, preferably from a science faculty member
  • two faculty appraisal forms (provided by NC-HCAP) with at least one from a science faculty member (in addition to the recommendation letter)
  • identification of race/ethnic identity
  • evidence of financial need

The application deadline for the CHSP Program is in February.
