Majette elected NAMME Regional Director
06.08.05

CHAPEL HILL – Patrena Majette, associate director and chief operating officer for the North Carolina Health Careers Access Program (NC-HCAP), an interinstitutional program of the University of North Carolina, was elected regional director-elect for the southern region of the National Association of Medical Minority Educators, Inc. (NAMME).

Majette will begin her tenure in September of this year. Among her duties as regional director-elect, Majette will work with the regional director to implement national program initiatives within the southern region, assist with fiscal management for the organization and submit recommendations for regional programmatic activities. At the end of her tenure, she will ascend to the regional director position.

“I am truly honored that my colleagues have displayed this type of confidence in my ability to serve the organization on this level. I look forward to working with the membership in continuing to provide strong advocacy in the southern region of NAMME,” Majette stated.

NAMME is a national organization dedicated to improving the overall health status of racial/ethnic populations who have been historically underrepresented in and/or underserved by the health professions. Members work to increase students’ access to and graduation from programs for health professionals, as well as provide student advocacy, policy development and related research.
